Everex Systems, a well-known laptop manufacturer together with VIA Technologies, the semiconductor company have jointly unveiled the new StepNote NC1500 notebook PC. The companies claim that the newly released StepNote NC1500 notebook PC is the world’s most energy-efficient notebook.

The StepNote NC1500 notebook PC uses VIA’s 1.5-GHz C7-M processor. At just 5.3-pound, the StepNote NC1500 has been designed for ultra-lowpower consumption.

According to VIA the StepNote NC1500 notebook PC, with its Enhanced PowerSaver and VIA Twin Turbo Technologies, can dynamically transition between intermediate power states. The StepNote NC1500 notebook PC is said to actually provide users with 20 per cent longer battery life than other machines.

The StepNote NC1500 comes with a 15.4” widescreen display, which features DiamondBrite technology. Windows XP Home Edition is pre-installed on StepNote NC1500 notebook PC, thus keeping the costs low.

Main memory of StepNote NC1500 is set at 512MB DDR2 SDRAM, while it has 60GB 4200-rpm PATA hard drive as storage.

The StepNote NC1500 notebook PC also supports wireless LAN 802.11b/g. It also features PadLock Security Engine for added security. Besides, the StyepNote NC1500 notebook PC also comes equipped with a DVD +/-RW writer, which sports dual-layer support.

Other features of the StepNote NC1500 notebook PC include integrated 56k modem and LAN.
