Latitude D420 Ultra-portable Notebook unveiled by Dell

Dell Latitude D420 Notebook Dell’s Latitude notebook series promise to deliver enhanced security, connectivity, as well as durability. Now, to round-off its line of Latitude notebooks, Dell has announced the ultra-portable Latitude D420 notebook.

Dell’s Latitude D420 notebook is a 1.36kg lightweight laptop, made of magnesium alloy. It features an Intel Core Solo processor. Dell claims that this latest notebook, the Dell Latitude D420 will last seven hours on a charge.

According to Dell, the Latitude D420 is definitely the lightest as compared to other notebooks manufactured by Dell. At the same time, the Latitude D420 is fully-compatible with standard docking options, power supplies and peripherals. If the need arises, customers can also add the optional lightweight MediaBase, with a choice of the optical drive that is attached to the bottom of the system.

Dell’s Latitude D420 is RoHS-compliant and is powered by Intel Core Solo processors. The D420 features a 12.1 inch wide-aspect display, a full sized keyboard and dual pointing capability.

Latitude D420 features Smart Card readers and Trusted Platform Module (TPM) security. Additionally, users can add biometric fingerprint readers at the time of purchase. Regarding connectivity, there is an IEEE 1394 port, three USB ports and a Secure Digital (SD) card slot.

Dell’s Latitude D420 can be configured with either Wi-Fi 802.11g or 802.11a/g. Latitude D420 is 802.11n-ready and features the Wi-Fi Catcher, which happens to be a switch that helps to locate wireless connections without having to turn on/off the wireless device.

Rajan Anandan, vice president & general manager - sales and marketing, Dell India, said, “The Latitude D420 combines the sleek, travel-friendly form-factor of the Latitude X1 with the compatibility benefits and durability of the Latitude D410, and initial customer response has been extremely enthusiastic.”

Dell’s Latitude D420 is immediately available for purchase in single-core configurations. Prices start at Rs.85, 530. Later this month, Dual-core configurations will be shipped to India. Latitude D420 comes with Dell’s standard Latitude three-year limited warranty. On-site service will also be provided to customers.
