The Beatles reportedly Coming to iTunes, Finally
Apparently a tentative deal between Apple and former Beatles Paul McCartney has been struck, reports The United Press International. Now this means that after around two years of hope and talks the Beatles’ back catalog could finally be available for digital distribution on iTunes.
The $400+ million USD agreement will be divided between the Fab Four (Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, the families of John Lennon and George Harrison), Sony, EMI, and Michael Jackson all of which have some rights to the songs, in various areas such as publishing, recording or reproduction.
Some time ago, McCartney released his latest solo work for distribution on iTunes, which was later followed by the release of legend John Lennon’s solo work, which incited widespread rumors that the Beatles catalog would soon follow.
The long-standing legal battle between Apple Inc. and The Beatles’ company Apple Corp. Ltd. came to an end early-least year when both parties mutually entered into a new agreement.
Interestingly, where few more humans reach, around a month back, Beatles song “Across the Universe” beamed into deep space by NASA, literally across the universe! This event had been organized to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the day the Beatles first recorded the song.
