The Led Zeppelin catalogue is the holy grail of rock music and the standard by which all others are still measured. The web site for Zep reunion tickets received over a BILLION hits in less than a week, so when you talk about die hard Zeppelin fans you are clearly addressing the largest fanbase in the world. I’ve seen virtually all the great bands over the years and Zeppelin remain in a class by themselves. In their prime and hitting on all cylinders, no band in the world, before or since, could even remotely compete with Led Zeppelin. Not even the great Who, at their absolute peak, could touch Zeppelin. The two finest concerts I’ve ever heard in my life are ‘Going to California’ an ‘unauthorized audience recording from the L.A. Forum in 1971, and ‘Listen To This Eddie’ from 1977. If you are fond of Zeppelin in the slightest, do what you have to do to get a decent copy of these two concerts. They are not hard to find. These two shows in particular are so stunningly powerful and intense that the official live Zep album released in 2003, ‘How The West Was Won’ (which is great in it’s own right), pales in comparison.
