Apple iPod Nano caught fire in Pant Pocket, claims Atlanta Man
We have all heard of laptops from brands such as Toshiba, Lenovo and Acer that used to suddenly catch on fire without any sort of warning. Now, this phenomenon of spontaneously bursting into flames has spread to the Apple iPod nano too!
A man from Atlanta called Danny Williams has claimed that his iPod nano player which he was carrying in the pocket of his pants caught fire while he was at the airport.
Williams actually works at the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International airport, when he reported that his two-year old iPod suddenly caught on fire that lasted for around 15 seconds. Williams also confirms that the flames reached up to his chest.
Luckily, Danny Williams did not exactly get hurt during the fire incident, all because of some pieces of paper that were also in the same pocket. But, he does not have an iPod anymore, for his nano was almost instantly transformed into ashes.
“I’m still kind of freaked out that only after a year and a half my iPod caught fire in my pocket. If TSA had come by and seen me smoking, they could have honestly thought I was a terrorist,” said Danny Williams.
Interestingly, the media got to know about this incident only because Danny’s mother Elaine Williams narrated the whole story to WSBTV.
Apple’s iPods contain Lithium-ion batteries, just like the notebooks that were reported to have burst into flames. Maybe Apple does need to consider a recall program. Oh! and we sincerely hope that there’s no issue with the newly launched iPod nanos.
