Social networking site MySpace has opened up a test version of its application gallery. This service will allow members to install applications developed by third party developers.

Recently, precisely in the first week of February 2008, MySpace had opened up to third-party developers. Rival social networking site Facebook has in fact become famous for the wide range of applications that are created by external developers.

Facebook’s developer platform has received some 13,000-odd applications and is accepted by both application makers and members of the social networking site.

According to MySpace, during this testing phase, users will be able to test the functionality of different applications and report any bugs if present.

Further, MySpace also said that its application gallery is in compliance with the Google OpenSocial initiative. This will allow the developers in case to make modifications or developments to the applications.

Since the gallery is available in testing phase, MySpace members who install applications now when the gallery is public but in beta phase, will be the early adopters of new applications.
