MySpace has re-launched its video sharing site and has re-christened it ‘MySpaceTV’. The service is currently in beta and will soon be an integrated component of the company’s worldwide community and content platform.

MySpaceTV Beta fuses the best elements of video and allows users to view, create and share videos in novel ways throughout the MySpace community.

According to Chris DeWolfe, CEO of MySpace, “This is the tip of the iceberg. The incredible video growth trajectory we’re seeing is a testament to the unique content and high user engagement in all corners of the MySpace community. In the last year, we added nearly 20 million unique users in the US alone and continue to see incredible growth around the world.”

However, the look and feel of MySpaceTV can be compared with YouTube for its likeness, as videos are organized into and displayed in almost exactly the same way, with related videos and comments.

MySpaceTV has a user-friendly interface divided into the main ‘Home Page’, a ‘My Videos’ section, ‘ Video Charts’, ‘Categories’ , and ‘Channels’.

Localized versions of MySpaceTV are immediately available in seven different languages across the UK, Japan, Australia, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Spain, Mexico, Canada, Netherlands, New Zealand, Latin America, Sweden and Austria.

Last week, MySpace was in the news for the launch of Sony’s 5-minute Minisodes. These moves will definitely put MySpace in a much more competitive position versus rival Youtube. As it is, YouTube is currently testing out social networking features on its TestTube test platform.
