Spetember 2007 calendar In May, we had reported about Yahoo’s announcement of shutting down Yahoo Photos and directing its users to the well-known Flickr.

Now the dates and further details of this news have been revealed. As one photo-sharing site sees the setting of the sun, the other one is going to see the dawn of a whole new day and life perhaps. On 20th September at 6 p.m. EDT, Yahoo Photos will be a thing of the past, as that is the exact day and time that the photo-sharing site will be shut down.

Until then, users of the site can move their photos to other photo-sharing services, such as Flickr, Kodak Gallery, Shutterfly, Snapfish and Photobucket.

Yahoo stated that it will automatically move users’ photos to one of these photo-sharing sites, as per its choice. Further more, users can also go ahead and download original photos to their systems. In addition, users of the New Yahoo Photos can get an archive CD for US$6.95 plus shipping from Yahoo’s partner Englaze.

But if users fail to inform Yahoo about what needs to be done with their respective photos before Yahoo Photos closes down, then their photos will be deleted and they obviously wouldn’t be accessible anymore.

Various other features such as Yahoo Mail, Yahoo Messenger and Mobile Web that come bundled with Yahoo Photos will also no longer be available post 20th September.

Though Flickr will remain top priority, Yahoo wants users to find the service best suited to them.

Speaking about this, Yahoo stated, “Of course, we hope you’ll join us at Flickr, but we also realize that Flickr may not be for everyone.” Adding, “In the end, we want you to find the service that’s right for you, and we hope you take some time to learn more about your options before making this important decision.”

There is a likeliness of most users going the Flickr way (if they already haven’t!) since it’s indeed a very interactive and broad platform. Let’s see! Post 20th September 2007, things will be clearer for sure.
