Hillary Clinton A political advertisement updated on popular video site You Tube is causing quite uproar on the world of the web. The spoof is essentially a remake of the will-known Apple commercial called ‘1984’ and is a direct attack at New York Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, democratic presidential candidate.

In 1984, Apple introduced the Macintosh with a commercial directed by Ridley Scott and inspired by Orwell’s 1984 novel. In the original commercial Apple’s intention was to portray IBM PC is as BigBrother and a unspecified female action hero as Macintosh. The commercial was broadcast during the 1984 Super Bowl XVIII.

The spoofed version posted on YouTube is a remix of the original version and Sen. Hillary Clinton is portrayed as BigBrother. The female hero, this time wearing an Obama tank top and listening to an iPod, is throwing a sledgehammer in a giant screen where Clinton’s face is being shown. After that, the commercial fades to the words “On Jan. 14, the Democratic primary will begin. And you’ll see why 2008 won’t be like 1984″. This is followed by a modified Apple symbol - transformed into an O - with “BarackObama.com”, Obama’s official campaign website, underneath.

So basically the big difference from Apple’s original ad: This time it’s Sen. Clinton who’s “big brother.”

The remixed ad has been viewed over a 310,000 times and is now on the top of Technorati’s most popular video list.

According to San Francisco Chronicle, Bill Burton, a spokesman for Obama, said he is aware of the “Hillary 1984″ video and has gotten calls from reporters on it — but he insisted that the campaign is not connected to it. “It’s somebody else’s creation,” he said, declining to comment on the ad’s biting content. Burton said he doesn’t know who created the spot, but it shows “there is a lot of energy for Sen. Obama on the Web, in communities all over the country … and frankly, that energy will manifest itself in a lot of ways.”

According to ABC News, the Clinton campaign declined to comment on the ad, ABC News reported. The author of this video is still unknown.
