Flickr LogoFlickr, the photo-tagging Web site has announced that it has added yet another feature to the site. This new feature called ‘collections’, allows users to further organize their photo sets in a much more organized manner, rather than relying on the traditional way of simply creating subsets.

According to Flickr’s blog, the new functionality will let Flickr posters create a type of ‘container’ into which they can place either sets of photos or even other entirely separate collections.

Flickr says that hierarchies as deep as five collections can be created with absolutely no limit on how many sets of photos are placed into an individual collection. For example, each unique collection can be labeled with either a user-or auto-generated mosaic icon.

On Flickr there are many Pro members as well. Flickr Pro is the web sites upgraded pay service that lets users have unlimited storage, uploads and bandwidth. With the new ‘collections’ function, Pro users can create and edit their ‘collections’ within the Organizr, under the sets and collections tab. Once users create collections, they can choose different labeling preferences.

Besides, Flickr has also added a new layout preference that enables posters to choose whether they wish to display the small sized images or as many as five medium-sized images.

In the future, Flickr, the popular photo sharing website has plans to offer many more customizations. However, Flickr wishes to get a feel for what works and what does not.
