Warner Music and Imeem logosAround two months back, Warner Music sued music-based social networking site Imeem over allegations of copyright violations. Now things have totally turned and foes have become friends as Warner has dropped its copyright infringement lawsuit and has instead join hands with Imeem.

Now under the partnership, Warner will make its songs and videos accessible to all Imeem users in North America for absolutely free, on-demand streaming that will receive support through advertising.

In June, Imeem re-launched its social network as an advertising-backed music service and offered to share the revenue with artists and record companies.

Furthermore, Imeem also refurbished the site to enforce limits on users who are keen to upload their music and share song playlists. Users can still upload most of their music, however the service will only play 30-second clips rather than the whole song.

Warner and various other leading record companies are aiming to maintain a balance between limiting online piracy and forming associations with industry newcomers as they look for new ways to promote and distribute music to fans.
