Children Surfing the Internet should be Monitored

A survey conducted by moneysupermarket.com suggests that parents need to monitor his or her child’s internet use.

The result of the survey is shocking, as more than 50 per cent of parents said that they do not monitor what their children do online. On the other hand about 21 per cent parents say that they use parental control softwares.

The study has also revealed that on an average, children in the age group of 3 to 15 years spend nearly two and a half hours weekly on the internet. And 2 out of 10 children have computers in their own bedroom.

Speaking in detail about the study, Rob Barnes, head of mobiles and broadband at moneysupermarket.com, commented, “The results show parents are aware they need to monitor how their child is using the internet but could do more.”

Awareness about keeping teenagers away from violent or sexual content is immense. Taking action in same regards, the German government has also launched a child friendly internet search engine called www.FragFinn.de, which offers children to surf the web without the risk of finding violent or sexual content.

For a fact, it’s not only the government’s duty keep children away from adult contents, but parents should also equally participate in the move.
