Metallica Music Now Available On iTunes, the American Band decides to Sell 4 Albums on the Music Store
World renowned American thrash metal/heavy metal band Metallica announced that they will be putting their albums for sale on Apple’s digital music store, iTunes.
Metallica has agreed to sell songs from four of its albums, “Kill ‘Em All,” “Ride the Lightning,” “Master of Puppets” and “…And Justice for All” along with previously unreleased live tracks, exclusively on the digital music store. Owing to a disagreement with Metallica’s overseas record label, Mercury, the band’s work is available on iTMS but just for US and Canadian customers.
Fans may buy tracks a la carte for 99 cents or purchase the albums, starting at $9.90.
“Over the last year or so, we have seen an ever-growing number of Metallica fans using online sites like iTunes to get their music,” the band says on their official web site. “So, in continuing with the tradition of offering our albums for sale online (which we’ve been doing for a few years through various sites), as well as making our live concerts available for download in their entirety (through the LiveMetallica.com site), we are now offering fans the opportunity to obtain our songs individually.”
Though Metallica albums have been made available for download through like MSN music, the band along with The Beatles, Led Zeppelin and Radiohead was opposed to selling individual songs in the past for financial reasons or their belief that albums were joined efforts.
