Popular website MySpace helps Detective find ID Suspects

MySpace logo Thanks to popular website MySpace, six men have been arrested and a seventh suspect was being sought after, in the city of Boulder, Colorado, Detective Ali Bartley said on Friday.

It was through MySpace through which the victim, whose name was withheld, became acquainted with the suspects through MySpace.

MySpace website The group met for a party. “At some point, the victim was no longer aware of what was happening, and she was sexually assaulted,” Bartley said.

She only recognized their first names but their pictures were posted on MySpace.

According to Bartley, “Primarily, we pulled up her friends list. It helped us identify some of the players.”

The men face a variety of charges ranging from sexual assault to felony theft. Around $40,000 in electronics, jewelry, clothing and other items were taken, authorities said. About $13,000 worth of stolen goods has been recovered.

“There was blood in almost every room of the house,” she continued. “There were broken pictures and statues. They stole stereo equipment. The media center was bare.”

Nicolas Brison, 18, was charged with rape. Also arrested were Warren Washington, Chadron Brennan and Tyler Brougham, all 18, and Aaron Cannell, 20, and Andrew Heneks, 19. They were charged on March 7 and hearings are set for April 6.

About $13,000 worth of stolen goods have been recovered, said Bartley.

MySpace never fails to be in the news for a number of reasons; around a fortnight ago a middle school student got suspended for posting graphic threats against a classmate on MySpace.com, whilst on the other hand the websitehas been the biggest help behind the arrest of a child molester.
