Google Video bans Iraq footage, for US only
Google is blocking US viewers from seeing an inoffensive piece of Iraq footage that Google delivers to internet users around the globe without any problems whatsoever.
The footage shows US military personnel detonating a roadside bomb in a controlled explosion. It’s accessible from everywhere except the United States. However US citizens, who bear the human and financial cost of such improvised weapons, are presented with the message saying, “We’re sorry, but the provider of this video has not authorised Google to display this video in your location.”
The footage shows little more than a distant plume of smoke.
The US media’s unwillingness to relay the human cost of the war has been fiercely criticised.
