Scandoo Logo On Tuesday, Scansafe, which is a security vendor, launched a beta search service. Dubbed Scandoo, this service analyzes links which are listed through various search engines such as Google and MSN for spyware, malicious codes and adware.

Web browsing should be safe, secure and free. Nowadays, majority of people are affected by spyware, online frauds and phishing attacks. Kids are also duped into clicking certain links which actually contain offensive content. “It’s a bit like providing traffic lights to guide you safely through your search,” said Eldar Tuvey, ScanSafe’s founder, in a statement.” Most search results look benign, but the fact is you’re rolling the dice”.

The scanning technology of Scandoo is installed on high speed server infrastructure and it scans each search result to see if there is anything malicious behind the links. It then feeds the security results back into the search page.

Scandoo is similar to McAfee’s SiteAdvisor, which also labels search engine links with colored markers. Scandoo can be accessed by any browser unlike SiteAdvisor, which relies on browser plug-ins, which are available only for Internet Explorer and Firefox.
It plans to add Yahoo and Ask.com to its search engine roster. Scandoo- The search engine filter can be reached here.
