Google Pack logo and Trillian logoTrillian has been removed from Google pack, Google’s all- in –one free installation package. Trillian, which is an instant messaging service, has been popular in the market for some time now, since it allows its users to maintain contacts from various IM services such as Yahoo messenger and MSN messenger. This interoperability feature makes it helpful for its users who have more than one network.

Both companies have yet not clarified as to when exactly the decision to remove Trillian from Google Pack was made. At this time, Cerulean Studios is getting ready for the release of Trillian’s latest upgrade, “Astra”.

Scott Werndorfer, co-founder, Cerulean Studios, and head developer of the company’s Blog (http://blog.ceruleanstudios.com/), said that their goals are no longer perfectly aligned with those of Google. Werndorfer said that the reasons for Google removing Trillian are their own, and that they were not made known to Trillian. However, he also said, “We harbor no ill-will towards them and wish them the best of luck; they’re going to need it.”

This is a pretty hard blow to Trillian. Google’s marketing power behind GooglePack will be missed by Cerulean Studios for sure.
