Google Checkout Logo Google has announced their latest offering, the Google Checkout Holiday site, which has featured items and details on special promotions. The Google Checkout Holiday site will go live on ‘Cyber Monday’, which is November 27, 2006.

Cyber Monday refers to the Monday immediately following Black Friday, which is the day after Thanksgiving. On Cyber Monday, the ceremonial kick-off of the holiday online shopping season begins. In recent years, Cyber Monday has become a busy day for online retailers, due to the low prices and special promotions offered to customers on this day.

This time Cyber Monday falls on November 27 and is expected to draw another record crowd of online shoppers. Usually people log on to the Internet after spending the holiday weekend fighting the crowds and browsing through stores.

Shoppers will also be looking for even more speed and convenience this year as people are tired down with their busy schedules. Even though there are many online shopping options to assist customers in finding the perfect gifts for their near and dear ones, they still have to deal with hassles such as entering billing, shipping and contact information as they move from site to site.

Google says that Google Checkout eliminates an average of 15 steps from the online checkout process. Apparently, in many cases Google is trying to make checking out as simple as entering a single login. This will surely save a lot of time for online shoppers, who are expected to visit an average of 5.5 Web sites for holiday gifts this season.

Google Checkout will also be offering users a variety of promotions for their holiday shopping. From Cyber Monday until Tuesday, December 26, users will receive $10 off purchases of $30 or more, or $20 off on purchases of $50 or more depending on the merchant.

Shoppers will be able to find participating merchants and special promotions on a new Google Checkout holiday site that will launch on Cyber Monday itself. This site will provide information on the promotions and will also offer gift ideas in the most sought-after and typical gift categories this year. This list of gift ideas usually would include clothing, gift certificates, electronics, toys, DVDs and music.
