google calendar logo Google Inc. has officially launched its latest offering, Google Calendar. The free online Calendar service by Google allows users to schedule events online and share them with others.

The free calendar service enables users to drag and drop events from one calendar to another making it very easy to use. Google Calendar utilizes AJAX and Google’s “natural language processing” technology that simplifies how events are entered, it is also integrated with Google’s email service, Gmail.

Users can type in any event for scheduling, and the calendar will automatically schedule the event. Users also have the option to make the schedule private or public.

Google hopes to encourage its use by making the technology available for developers to create third party desktop applications that interact, says Carl Sjogreen, a Google product manager.

Google Calendar is seen as a counter measure for Yahoo Calendar, a social event calendar that lets users manage events and share them with friends and family.
