According to Babble, the users can activate the free VoIP to landline FreeB minutes by sending a text message to Babble, having first registered and downloaded the Babble software onto their laptop or PC.

“FreeB is not some short term gimmick, it’s a long term marketing initiative to introduce everyone to the benefits of Internet Communications and demonstrate how far the technology has progressed in a short period of time,” said Allan Howes, CEO of Babble.net Group Plc.

“We are confident that once consumers have experienced the quality, the range of features and see how content can be accessed from their PC; they will think twice about going back from our service to a non International Standards based services,” added Howes.

Babble is based on international standards enabling its users to interact with other VoIP services that are also SIP based for free. Similarly, SIP allows independent hardware devices to be plugged into the laptop or PC allowing Babble to introduce a broader range of services in the coming months.

Babble’s FreeB calls are limited to 30 minutes each day. After that the standard low-cost Babble rates apply. To activate the service, the one-off text message will cost £1.50p. The initial FreeB campaign will last for three months.
