Danish website hacked The protest over editorial cartoons published by a Danish newspaper has now spread onto the Internet and has resulted in defacements of hundreds of Danish Websites by muslim hackers.

Internet security firm F-Secure said 600 Danish sites so far have been hacked and defaced with anti-Dane and pro-Muslim messages this week. The uproar started due to a Danish newspaper printing depicting Mohammed with a bomb for a turban.

The defacements included threats and warnings of suicide bombings in Arabic-language.

This is not the first time such politically motivated web attacks have taken place; back in 2001 a month-long web defacement attack had taken place between Chinese and American hackers after a U.S. spy plane was forced down by the Chinese. In 2003 virus wars was raged between Pakistani and Indian hackers as Kashmir tensions escalated between those countries.
