Ask Jeeves Inc. has signed a licensing agreement with GoFish that will assimilate into the search engine the latter company’s entertainment-related multimedia content, the two companies said Tuesday.

The first phase of the merger, which has already been implemented, enables visitors to Ask Jeeves to listen, browse, purchase, and download music, video, podcasts, audio books, movies, music videos, and ring tones. The new services can be availed from the top of search results pages.

Additional integration of GoFish content is ongoing.

The GoFish search engine, based in San Francisco, covers over 100 million multimedia files, including commercially available and independently generated entertainment. Ask Jeeves, based in Oakland, Calif., is owned by e-commerce company IAC/InterActiveCorp.
