Sober Worm Helps Tracking Down Child Porn Offender
Probably for the very first time the Sober Worm is in the news for for doing somthing good and positive.
A 20 year-old child porn offender turned himself in earlier this week after mistaking a message generated by the worm as an actual message from Germany’s Federal Criminal Police Office. The e-mail which read “an investigation was underway, supposedly convinced the offender that the authorities were aware of his online activities.
He was charged after police found pornographic images of children on his computer. A spokesman for the Paderborn, Germany police credited the worm with uncovering a crime that probably would have otherwise gone undetected. As of now there is no information if the worm has helped uncover any other crimes.
