Google Fixes Microsoft’s Flaw
Search giant Google was so alarmed that a vulnerability in Microsoft’s IE browser might compromise its toolbar technology, it managed to fix it within a few days of finding out about the problem.
On the other hand, Microsoft has been aware of the problem since six months and is promising that possible or maybe a patch would be available by next Tuesday.
The flaw in IE allows an attacker to retrieve private user data or take over the person’s computer from a remote site. Early proof of concept papers used it to take over Google’s toolbar to get shedloads of collected personal information.
Apparently Google has made an adjustment to its desktop search tool to halt attacks that take advantage of an unpatched vulnerability.
