Motorola Inc. announced that its iRadio has been conferred as the Best Radio Service at the 2005 Digital Entertainment and Media Excellence Awards, held in Los Angeles.

Motorola iRadio was recognized by a panel of judges from across the entertainment and digital media industries as the “the best radio service (digital, Internet, satellite or other format) with respect to variety, innovation and user experience.” Other finalists in this category included XM Satellite Radio, America Online’s AOL Radio Network and Yahoo! LAUNCHcast Music Radio Service.

Mike Gaumond, vice president and general manager, Motorola iRadio, “Motorola iRadio creates a uniquely personal music experience - it’s only the music and talk you want to hear, seamlessly following you from your home to your car - and anywhere else.” He proudly added, “We are honored the DEMXPO judges have recognized the powerful potential this experience can offer consumers, artists, and labels.”

The Motorola iRadio service, which is expected to be launched in the first quarter of 2006, will provide pre-programmed, commercial-free music and talk channels covering virtually any genre, style, or topic. Bluetooth support lets you stay connected at home, in your car, and all around.

Motorola iRadio had earlier announced that Universal Music’s Nashville artists including top CMA award winner Lee Ann Womack, Trisha Yearwood, Shania Twain, Vince Gill, Terry Clark, George Strait, Gary Allan, Reba McEntire and more would launch individual channels on the service.
