3D content has been inviting increasing interest in the technology markets lately. JVC Professional Products has revealed their IF-2D3D1 stereoscopic image processor. The device functions as a 2D-to-3D converter as also a 3D L/R mixer for video content creators.
Producers of 3D content can convert 2D material into 3D or even shoot original content in 3D with this product. The conversion of 2D into 3D is proffered in real-time in four 3D mixed formats for stereo video output on a compatible device. These include line-by-line, above-below, side-by-side-half and checkerboard formats. Output discrete left and right signals through HDMI or HD-SDI for dual projection or editing is also enabled by this image processor.
“With the public’s renewed interest in 3D for both theatrically released content and beyond, many content producers are looking to repurpose existing 2D materials to meet demand. Meanwhile, other producers creating new content need an uncomplicated way to check their 3D footage on location,” stated Dave Walton, assistant VP of marketing and communication, JVC. “This single unit is ideal for both. The IF-2D3D1 is the key to providing new solutions for virtually any 3D content creation scenario.”
Users can adjust output for parallax and 3D intensity with natural, anaglyph and sequential viewing modes. Left-eye and right images may be easily combined with the additional help of a 3D-enabled monitor like JVC’s 46″ GD-463D10U LCD panel. Other features that assist in utilizing the device include Scope as well as Split intelligence. A Rotation feature ensures that both streams are viewed the right way up if a camera has to be positioned upside down for correct spacing.
JVC’s IF-2D3D1 stereoscopic image processor is scheduled for a March 2010 release. The pricing details are still under wraps.
