Racing fans who have been waiting eagerly for the much publicized DirectX 11-optimized Codemasters DiRT 2 game have been relieved of their ordeal with AMD’s proclamation of its release. The Games for Windows Live Edition of DiRT 2 is expected to offer an immersive gaming experience with AMD ATI Radeon graphics cards that are Microsoft DirectX 11-enabled and attributed with ATI Eyefinity technology.

DirectX 11 intelligence incorporates a number of fresh enhancements like advanced hardware tessellation that renders better water and flowing effects as well more detailed and animated background crowd models. Compute Shader 5.0 courtesy of the aforesaid technology delivers improved light and shadow graphics, while high dynamic range lighting is reproduced at two times the color depth of DirectX 9.

“AMD has worked tirelessly with Codemasters to collectively transform realism in PC gaming through new DirectX 11 technologies only available today on the latest ATI Radeon graphics cards,” explained Matt Skynner, VP and general manager, GPU Division at AMD. “Players taking advantage of the incredibly detailed graphics of DiRT 2 on ATI Radeon graphics cards, or the phenomenal game experience an ATI Eyefinity technology setup affords, will agree that DirectX 11 allows for a faster, more thrilling, and more engaging racing simulation than ever before.”

ATI Radeon cards that support DirectX 11 comprise of the HD 5970, HD 5870, HD 5850, HD 5770 and HD 5750. ATI Eyefinity multi-display technology permits for a maximum of three game viewing angles in resolutions of around 7680 x 1600p. DirectX 11 features as part of Microsoft’s Windows 7 OS and comes as a downloadable upgrade for Windows Vista users.

The developers at Codemasters have been working with AMD to optimize DiRT 2 for DirectX 11 and ATI Eyefinity technology. The incorporation of AMD’s aforementioned ATI Radeon offerings are claimed to lend gamers one of the best real-life racing experiences ever.
