NEC India has unveiled a new eco friendly server dubbed Eco Center. The energy saving server consumes up to 55% less power and occupies up to 50 % less space, claims the manufacturer. That’s not all. The server is also said to be approximately 58% lighter than conventional servers due to which it leverages cutting edge NEC technologies, such as highly efficient batteries, the optimum cooling functions of high-density packaging, and the adoption of advanced low power CPUs, chipsets and memory.
The Eco Center server supports Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008 as well as Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
The Eco Center is designed with advanced technologies and is suitable for large-scale application servers and Web servers being used in major enterprises and government agency data centers.
On the launch of the Eco Center, Abhilesh Guleria, Country Manager, IT Platform Business, NEC India said that, “NEC Corporation has concluded development on the Eco Center, a specialized space and energy-saving server. NEC Corporation realizes the requirements of its customers by closely working with them and always works to innovate the products accordingly. Eco Center is one such product which takes care off all the requirments of the customers in today’s scenario. Loaded with a-cut-above technology, it assists our customers in cutting their power consumption costs and space costs significantly.”
NEC has not disclosed any information regarding pricing.
