Samsung has unveiled its first Plasma 3D High-Definition TV. This 50-inch HDTV happens to be the world’s first to offer a stunning 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio! It is known as the Samsung PAVV Cannes 450.

Samsung’s 3D HDTV comes bundled with 3D goggles and software that can be used to connect the set to a PC.

Viewers will have to don the goggles to experience video games and some entertainment content solely in the third dimension on the Samsung PAVV Cannes 450 3D HDTV.

Samsung was able to achieve the ultra-high contrast ratio in this new plasma TV with Cell Light Control. Further, the Samsung Digital Natural Image engine + (DNIe+) handles external noise, contrast ratio and color in the image display of the Samsung PAVV Cannes 450 HDTV.

According to a Samsung spokesperson, “Users could see the latest generation of Hollywood 3D movies by wearing a designated eyewear and play 3D games just by connecting 3D-only software to PCs.”

In fact, Samsung partnered with video game developer Electronic Arts to produce 3D games that can be played on this 3D HDTV. Further, Samsung also says that it is currently in talks with a number of Hollywood studios for 3D movies.

“We are engaged in final talks to introduce 3D content that fits the televisions,” confirmed the Samsung spokesperson.

Samsung had showcased its 3D-ready PAVV Cannes 450 Plasma TV for the first time at the CES 2008 that took place earlier in the year.

Samsung had announced the launch of the 50-inch PAVV Cannes 450 3D Plasma HDTV in Korea. However, it is expected to be launched in the US this year as well.
