Microsoft India has launched its new LifeCam VX-700 webcam in the market today. The latest device from Microsoft features an elegant compact design with a high quality VGA camera.

The VX-700 sports an easy to carry design and can effortlessly be attached to any kind of monitor. The universal attachment base enables webcam to work with any desktop PC as well with variety of laptops.

The LifeCam VX-700 comes bundled with a headset with a microphone. It also has a plug and play feature which facilitates compatibility with Windows Live Messenger, Microsoft office communicator and other popular messaging services.

“Technology and design are two factors that have always been paramount to Microsoft Hardware. With the launch of VX-700 we once again have a product that will excite our customers,” said Geetha KB, Product Marketing Manager, Entertainment and Devices Division – Microsoft Hardware.

The Microsoft LifeCam VX-700 webcam with a headset is now available in India and is priced at Rs. 999 plus tax.


  1. *g* ok they came out last summer, now outdated but still…can’t find
    drivers or any software. When just plugging in it works fine using on desktop, (which really means drivers are already there)but once I attach an extension usb cable it crashes :( but as mentioned it will work and can pick up as is but cannot plug any extension which gives you one foot……..Great for laptops sucks for desktops. No pc tech or any other informed pc people have any answers, the cable Im using is brandnew and works with all other cameras. Any answers to dilemma is appreciated. works GREAT but is not detected by pc once an extension is used.

  2. the problem with the extension cable could be either the voltage drop over the cable or the degeneration of the signals over the longer cable. Some USB ports are classified as POWER ports, having the capability to provide more current. try using such a port. some extension cables are also powered, with built-in amplifiers to allow long cables..
