S-LCD 8th Generation LCD TV Panels now shipping
S-LCD Corporation has announced that it has begun shipping LCD panels from its 8th Generation Line. S-LCD is a joint venture by two big names in the electronics industry namely Samsung Electronics and Sony Corp.
According to S-LCD, the 8TH Generation Line of LCDs is capable of processing the world’s largest mother glass substrates measuring 2,200mm by 2500mm.
These liquid crystal display panels measuring 2.2×2.5 meters will be incorporated in both 46- and 52-inch full screen High Definition LCD televisions manufactured by Samsung and Sony.
In fact, with the previous 7G line of LCD panels, S-LCD was able to sufficiently meet the demand for 40-inch panels.
Now that S-LCD has announced the shipments of its 8G LCD panels, this marks a major turning point in the market for LCD TVs belonging to the 50-inch category.
S-LCD aims to reach its full monthly output of 50,000 8G panels by the end of 2007.
