Sleek 22-inch Sony VAIO LT HD PC/TV with Blu-ray unveiled

Sony VAIO LT HD PC/TV with Blu-ray Electronics company Sony has launched a Vaio Computer that bundles a Blu-ray player and can operate a High-Definition TV cable receiver.

Dubbed LT19U, the latest Vaio LT HD PC/TV packs in a CableCard slot through which users can insert the card to display cable signal on the 22-inch “all-in-one” LCD screen, including high-def channels. You can get your CableCard from your cable operator.

Further on, the Sony Vaio LT19U computer also has integrated wireless networking, a built-in ATSC and NTSC TV tuner and the Blu-ray feature which includes playback of Blu-ray discs and burning high-def video on discs.

The LT HD PC/TV is powered by an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, incorporates 2GB of RAM and a DVD burner. Users can also connect to their home networks wirelessly through built in 802.11b/g. Windows Vista Ultimate comes factory installed.

Other features include a digital video recorder, built-in 1.3-megapixel camera and echo-canceling microphone, VESA-compatible mounting, and fast toggling between the PC and TV functions. Sony laid special emphasis on the fact that the LT19U could be used as a PC as well as a television. It’s price will start from $2,900 onwards.

Mike Abary, Sony’s senior vice president of VAIO product marketing said, “The LT model has everything you need- it’s a PC and HDTV set in one breathtaking device.” Abary added, “It’s the ultimate showstopper for media lovers who appreciate high-def performance and cutting-edge technology in a saving space design.”

Apart from the Vaio LT19U computer, Sony announced a less expensive model which does not include the Blu-ray support. This model will be $1000 cheaper, at $1,900,

Both, the Sony Vaio LT HD PC/TV as well as the high-definition version will hit store shelves in October.
