Philips Ambilight range of FlatTVs

Today Philips Electronics announced the availability of its new line-up of Ambilight FlatTVs in India. The latest range of TVs feature a new LED (Light Emitting Diode) illumination and proprietary Perfect Pixel HD Engine technologies, along with the future-proof Full HD screen display of 1920 x 1080p resolution, to give you the pleasure of viewing superior picture quality and the most engrossing viewing experience, with excellent contrast and colors in the living room.

Elaborating on the company’s move for the LCD segment, Gunjan Srivastava, Director Consumer Electronics Division, Philips Electronics India stated, “We are looking at enhancing leadership in the consumer lifestyle segment in India through our cutting edge technological product offerings like 9 Series LCD. The company has recorded a triple-digit growth in LCD market and has been even growing faster than the market in 2007. Realizing the phenomenal response that we have received from Indian consumers for our Ambilight range, we believe that Ambilight technology can help us driving our technological superior image in the LCD segment. We are confident that the Indian consumers will be delighted with the immersive viewing experience offered by the new range of Philips Ambilight FlatTVs. We are planning to further strengthen this range in next year 2008″

Launched in 2004, the Philips Ambilight range of FlatTVs essentially reducing eyes strain accentuates the TV viewing atmosphere and adds a new element to the viewing experience by projecting background lighting from the rear of the FlatTV unit onto the wall, through analyzing the incoming TV signals in real time and producing background lighting that matches the onscreen images.

Now in 2007, the latest array of Philips Ambilight FlatTVs feature LED illumination for its Ambilight backlight technology to generate more saturated colors, making possible a more compact set design. Depending on every individual’s viewing preferences, there are three preset modes developed, namely - “Relaxed”, “Moderate” and “Dynamic”. In the “Relaxed” mode the color and brightness changes are slow, making it apt for relaxed viewing. The “Moderate” mode caters to general movie viewing, while the “Dynamic” mode” maximizes color and brightness changes for a more intense viewing experience of action-packed films or fast-moving scenes.

Philips’ latest Ambilight FlatTVs incorporate the Perfect Pixel HD Engine to deliver razor sharp images that are cleaner, smoother and more natural looking. This feature brings together a set of Philips picture quality enhancement technologies: 100Hz ClearLCD, HD Natural Motion, Horizontal & Vertical Luminance Transient Improvement (LTI) and Color Booster. Thanks to which there is unrivalled level of High Definition picture quality. 100Hz ClearLCD addresses a common limitation found in many ordinary LCD TVs - motion artifacts in fast-moving pictures.

Also the Advanced Perfect Pixel HD Engine picture processing is integrated, which offers more advanced video-signal processing than any other system on the market. It makes use of 14-bit color processing and blends it with advanced sharpness and resolution-enhancement techniques. Philips’ new Color Booster produces the vibrant colors with natural skin tones that exemplify Perfect Pixel HD Engine. This increases the saturation of colors, making them even more vivacious and thereby producing a color palette of 4 trillion colors. Just like the initial image-processing, Perfect Pixel HD Engine is supported by Philips’ Active Control, a dynamic process which continuously measures and corrects incoming signals to give the most superior and most consistent picture quality.

All the elements bundled in the Philips Perfect Pixel HD Engine result in a Full HD 1080p display that has the ability of delivering an unmatched resolution of 6.2 million pixels.

The new range of Philips Ambilight FlatTVs starting from Rs 1,29990/-, is available in India at all leading consumer electronics outlets and exclusive Philips ARENA showrooms.
