Cyberstar to promote Hitachi Deskstar P7K500 HDD in India

Deskstar P7K500 HDD and Cyberstar Logo Cyberstar Infocom has announced that it will be introducing the Hitachi Deskstar P7K500, an energy efficient desktop hard disk drive. This HDD has been designed for commercial as well as consumer PCs and is available in capacities of 250GB to 500GB.

Hitachi has implemented a set of power saving technologies to reduce the P7K500’s active and idle power consumption by up to 40% over the previous generation. Thus, the P7K500 offers the best in power consumption on its one-disk model and significant power savings on its two-disk model, both with 7200RPM performance and Serial-ATA interface.

The Deskstar P7K500 HDD offers the industry-leading power specifications which support ‘green’ initiative that are aimed at producing power-friendly PC’s thereby providing significant advantage to PC manufacturers wishing to create ENERGY Star compliant devices.

The Hitachi Deskstar P7K500 is available in capacities of 250GB, 320GB, 400GB and 500GB with 185 billion bits per square inch maximum areal density. It comes with 8MB (single disk) and 8MB and 16MB (two disk) data buffer.

This HDD can operate in 0 degree to 60 degrees C ambient temperature. In addition the P7K500 also incorporates Hitachi GST’s second generation perpendicular magnetic recording (PMR) heads and disks enabling 250 GB per platter areal density and high level of reliability.

According to Shinjiro Iwata, executive Vice President of Hitachi GST, “With the Deskstar P7K500 hard drive, we have merged our various power management innovations into one drive, achieving leading power specifications that make a positive contribution to system power consumption.”
