Netgear Technologies India has launched its ReadyNAS RND4425-100EUS NV+ X-RAID 1TB storage solution in the country. This solution is targeted at home offices, small businesses and workgroups as it combines out-of-the-box deployment and easy management with reliable file serving and data redundancy.

The Netgear ReadyNAS RND4425 features four 250GB hard disk drives in an 8-inch high desktop design. It features built-in system monitoring with email alerts and supports hardware accelerated RAID levels 0, 1, 5 and ReadyNAS X-RAID technology.

According to Atul Jain, country manager, Netgear India, “ReadyNAS ensures full data redundancy with protection against hardware failure, something previously only available in high-end servers. If one drive fails, the data volumes can still be rebuilt with the remaining drives.”

A good thing about this storage solution is that it is easy to deploy and manage with an easy Web browser interface and setup wizard. Moreover, the device stands at 8-inches tall and 5-inches wide, allowing it to be placed in any entertainment center or on any desk without taking up much space or making much noise.

The X-Raid technology automates the volume expansion as users scale from one hard drive to four. ReadyNAS allows users to start with one disk, then add the additional drives over time, without reconfiguring the system and shuffling the data. Additionally, as disk capacity becomes larger and cheaper, users can replace all four disks, one-by-one, while X-RAID automatically manages the RAID details.

The NETGEAR ReadyNAS RND4425 also includes File Serving and Media Streaming in which it serves as a single centralized source for all of one’s digital data. The product has an advanced system design that makes it ideal for any home office or small business.

The ReadyNAS RND4425 has a IT3107 Network Storage Processor with four SATA channels and is compatible with SATA and SATA II hard drives. It also has hot-swappable and lock trays, LCD display, three USB 2.0 ports, 256 MB PC2700 DDR-SDREAM SO-DIMM and is embedded with 64 MB Flash Memory for OS, which supports Windows, Mac, Linux/Unix clients. It has Harware X-RAID single volume auto expansion with volume management and network file services with media streaming of UPnP AV, SlimServer, Network DVD player compatible and Windows MCE compatible.

The network security is selectable and can be shared by user domain/ADS modes with encrypted network logins and Secure Socket Layer (SSL). The ReadyNAS RND4425 has various network options like DHCP or static IP, WINS, NTP with system management and an integrated Backup Manager as well as Bundled backup software: EMC Retrospect Professional for Windows (5 users license), EMC Retrospect Desktop for Macintosh (5 users license). It is USB Device Supported and also Web Browsers Supported with language management in English, Japanese, Chinese and German.

The ReadyNAS RND4425 has a fanless server-rated AC power supply with the input of 100-240 VAC, 50/60Hz and has a typical power consumption of 55 W (4 x 250 GB disks) with the power saving mode.

The Netgear ReadyNAS RND4425 solution is available via Rashi Peripherals and Cyberstar Infocom. It is priced at Rs. 80,000/- and comes with a three-year hardware warranty.
