Lenovo has extended its desktop PC line with the launch of the ThinkCentre A61e desktop. Encased in an ultra-small form factor, this desktop PC offers users an energy efficient solution. Not only that it also happens to be the company’s smallest and quietest desktop yet.

The Lenovo ThinkCentre A61e desktop PC runs on a 45-watt AMD Athlon 64×2 dual core and AMD Sempron single core processors

The Lenovo ThinkCentre A61e desktop uses up to 90% reusable or recyclable materials, as well as 90% recyclable packaging. Plus, it can be powered by an optional solar panel.

It’s no wonder then that the energy-efficient ThinkCentre A61e desktop earned the EPEAT Gold Status, which is the highest designation a product can achieve when it comes to environmental attributes and recyclability.

Besides, this ultra-small Lenovo A61e desktop surpasses the US Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Energy Star 4.0 criteria with its 85% efficient power supply.

According to Peter Schrady, vice president and general manager, Emerging Products Business Unit, Lenovo, “The importance of maximizing energy efficiency and being environmentally conscious is touching all aspects of our daily lives, from the light bulbs we use to light our homes to the hybrid cars we drive to the green technology we rely on to run our businesses.”

“Lenovo is committed to providing an extensive menu of environmentally-responsible, energy-efficient technology choices, and the ThinkCentre A61e desktop is our signature item. For the first time, a major PC vendor has combined small size and consistently quiet acoustics with a light weight, highly energy-efficient desktop offering at an affordable price,” Schrady added.

Another great feature of the Lenovo ThinkCentre A61e desktop PC is that it features a typical single, low-speed fan, keeping it cool and offering the ultimate in reliability. More importantly, the low-speed fan keeps the PC consistently quiet whether in an idle mode or even when it is stretched to the maximum.

The Lenovo ThinkCentre A61e and A61 desktop PCs will have a prices beginning at approximately $399. These PCs will be available in October 2007.
