Sony BDZ-X90, BDZ-T70, BDZ-T50 and BDZ-L70 Blu-ray Recorders to launch in November

Sony logo Sony has announced four new Blu-ray recorders, which will hit store shelves by November of this year. Sony’s latest products are dubbed BDZ-X90, BDZ-T70, BDZ-T50 and BDZ-L70.

Apart from hard disk drives, the latest Sony Blu-ray recorders incorporate 24p true cinema, AVCHD support, ‘hi-vision’ encoded recording, HD audio and BRAVIA link. In addition, all the four recorders have the capability to burn 50GB dual-layer and BD-R/RE discs.

Sony Executive Deputy President Katsumi stated, “With high-definition TVs spreading rapidly and more digital cameras and camcorders are becoming HD-ready, time is ripe for household recorders to move onto a next generation. We intend to make all our recorders in the domestic market Blu-ray compatible.”

Amongst the four, Sony BDZ-X90 seems to be the largest capacity model. With its 500GB hard drive, it includes 2x digital and 2x analog tuners, gold-plated HDMI 1080p capable of 60fps or 24fps output in DeepColor as well as a DLNA-based ‘Sony Room Link’ server function for streaming media around the house.

The BDZ-T70 and BDZ-L70 both include 320 GB hard drives each. While the former features two digital tuners for parallel recording, the latter is optimized for AVCHD video camera that offers one-touch dubbing.

And finally the last Blu-ray recorder, having the smallest capacity is the Sony BDZ-T50. It comes with a 250 GB HDD along with a digital tuner.

All the new Sony Blu-ray recorders have the ability to record up to 16 hours of high-definition video into recordable BDs.

Slated for an 8 November, 2007 release, Sony BDZ-X90 is priced at 200,000 Yen, BDZ-L70 comes for 180,000 Yen, BDZ-T70 will be priced at 160,000 Yen and finally the BDZ-T50 will retail for 140,000 Yen.
