IBM Logo IBM, a world leader in manufacturing servers, has announced the availability of Core Microprocessor Power6 and system p570 server in India. The new arrivals are targeted at small and medium business market.

“We are looking at the SMB market in a big way for Power6. The new growth for IBM is coming from SMB which constitutes Rs 200-400 crore. The deal size today for our servers is about Rs 25-30 lakh”, said Shashi B Mal, Director, Systems and Technology Group, IBM India/SA.

The Power6 features a speed of 4.7 GHZ, which is double as compared to its previous version Power5. On the other side it uses nearly the same amount of electricity to run and cool.

In short, users will get double the speed at half the energy. The new p570 server is powered by Power6 chip hence delivering great speed.

IBM entered the Indian market in 1992, since then it is growing with a great speed offering Indians better and advanced IT products. It has a staff of around 5,300 employees in the country who are currently working at 35 centres.
