Western Digital announces New Hard Drive Exchange Scheme in India

Western Digital logo Western Digital has released a new hard drive exchange scheme in India. The hard disk manufacturer is inviting customers to exchange their old drives belonging to any recognized brand for a brand new WD drive at a discounted price.

The offer covers both working and non-working drives subject to terms and conditions as specified by WD.

This exchange offer, which will run till the end of this month, will be available to all WD customers through the distribution channel. It is applicable across all WD’s internal drive families including WD Raptor, WD Caviar and WD Scorpio.

The discount details are:
a) Working drives:
- 4 GB and above but less than 10 GB: Rs. 150 off a WD drive of choice
- 10 GB and above but less than 20 GB: Rs. 300 off a WD drive of choice
- 20 GB and above: Rs. 500 off a WD drive of choice

b) Non-working drives:
- Any capacity greater than 1 GB: Rs. 75 off a WD drive of choice

The terms and conditions of the exchange program are mentioned below:
- Only sealed drives shall be acceptable, standard warranty void condition applies. E.g. no physically damaged / warranty seal opened drives will be accepted.
- Distributors will test each drive before accepting them to ensure that the drives are in working condition.
- Drives with few bad sectors are acceptable, but drives with more than 10% bad sectors will be considered in the non-working category.
- The customer is obliged to buy equal or more number of drives against the exchange drives in a single purchase.
- This offer is open till June 30, 2006. However WD reserves the right to withdraw or extend the offer period.
- In case customer has an older motherboard, which does not support higher capacities, WD will support it through its Data LifeGuard Tools.
