New LRS-52 SHDSL Modem Rack announced in India by RAD
Manufacturer of access solutions for data and telecommunications applications, RAD Data Communications has introduced the latest LRS-52 SHDSL modem rack that has been specially developed got the Indian market. The LRS-52 is a dedicated chassis offering Symmetric High-Bitrate Digital Subscriber Loop (SHDSL) service within the Local Loop.
According to RAD, India has been its largest market for 2 Mbps (ASMi) HDSL and SHDSL leased line modems. Approximately 33% of all ASMi modems manufactured by RAD are sold in India, and these modems are locally manufactured in the country since 2004.
“The LRS-52 SHDSL modem rack provides a variety of options, making it suitable for a wide range of customers,” remarked Jayant Deo. “When used in conjunction with RAD’s ASMi-52 SHDSL modem, the LRS-52 SHDSL modem rack provides a complete solution to deploying SHDSL services.”
Each port in the LRS-52 dedicated SHDSL modem rack works opposite an SHDSL remote device in a point-to-point configuration, providing each port with an independent connection. The product supports SHDSL technology in full compliance with ITU and ETSI standards. RAD said the LRS-52 is a cost effective non-modular modem rack that can be used with a dedicated number of ports. The user can choose between 12 and 24 ports in the 2-wire version, and between six and 12 ports in the 4-wire version. The high density reduces the price per port.
“LRS-52 adds value to our existing range of highly popular SHDSL solutions in India by optimizing SHDSL modem rack costs for small-to-medium capacity central sites located in smaller cities or larger towns. The timing of this product introduction is excellent as the telecom services market in India is rapidly expanding in such locations,” added Deo.
The LRS-52 is available in separate versions for each user interface (E1, V.35 or X.21). The device has an SNMP agent on board that offers full SNMP management of the central and the remote units. It includes an embedded Ethernet bridge and dual Ethernet ports for the connection of a large number of racks to single or multiple management stations. Full diagnostics are also provided.
The same Ethernet segment used for managing the LRS-52 dedicated SHDSL modem rack can be used to manage other elements in the network, such as backbone equipment, from the same management station. The RADview SNMP application running on an HP OpenView or PC platform enables full management of the LRS-52 and the remote ASMi-52 SHDSL modem.
