OmniVision OV9660 OmniVision is set to release its latest CMOS chip designed to be used in mobile phones to enhance the image quality of in-built cameras. The new OV9660 CMOS SXGA 1.3 Megapixel CAMERACHIP is a low voltage device designed to be used in a small footprint package.

The new chip is capable of operating at up to 15 frames per second in SXGA resolution and gives the user complete control over image quality, formatting and data output transfer.

All the required image processing functions such as exposure control, gamma, white balance, color saturation, hue control, white pixel cancelling, noise cancelling and more are programmable via the SCCB (serial camera control bus) interface.

High sensitivity for low light areas implies better images indoors. Image output options are YUV, RGB, Raw, and RGB Data. The manufacturer also expects the chip to be incorporated in webcams, digital cameras and toys.
