IMs Are The Preferred Choice

Z Corp. has announced the ZScanner 700, a handheld laser scanner that can easily convert any real-life object into a 3D model. So all you people who had the dreams of becoming a great computer graphics artist but had no skills at modelling in 3DS Max or Maya, here ends your quest.

To use it you just need to connect the ZScanner 700 to your computer via its handy firewire connection, add some reflective targets to your object of choice and start scanning. The ZScan software will actually create a 3D polygon mesh of the object’s surface in real time so you can know what parts have been scanned and which haven’t.

In addition, Z Corp suggests ‘reverse engineering’ as a possible use for the ZScanner 700 device. So now you needn’t go through years of designing and prototyping your own product, as you can simply scan someone else’s and apply your own label.

Since all good things do not come cheap, so does this one. Z Corp’s ZScanner 700 and software are priced at a not-so-affordable $39,900.
