Buffalo DriveStation SATA USB 2.0 Hard Drive Buffalo Technology, a leading global provider of award-winning wired and wireless networking, memory, storage and multi-media solutions, has launched the DriveStation SATA USB 2.0 Hard Drive, the latest addition to its DriveStation line of USB 2.0 Hard Drive solutions.

The DriveStation SATA USB 2.0 Hard Drive is available in capacities of 160 GB (HD-HC160U2), 250 GB (HD-HC250U2), 300 GB (HD-HC300U2), 400 GB (HD-HC400U2), and now 500 GB (HD-HC500U2), available only with the new DriveStation SATA USB series.

The new DriveStation is created to enable users to guard and manage digital content such as family photos or videos, music or business-critical files. For product competence and smaller form factor, the product includes a high performance 7200-RPM SATA (Serial ATA) drive, which allows it to fit nicely into any home computer environment or small office. The DriveStation also incorporates Buffalo’s Secure Lock Ware technology, which encrypts and protects data stored on the device in the event it is lost or stolen.

Morikazu Sano, senior vice president of global marketing at Buffalo Technology said, “SATA drives are quickly making their way into the mainstream consumer hard drive market and by incorporating SATA into our DriveStation series of USB 2.0 hard drives, we are proving once again that Buffalo is a pioneer in personal storage and providing forward-thinking, cutting-edge technology.”

Sano continued, “Our customers demand performance and we are answering that demand with an external hard drive solution that’s unmatched in performance, security and ease-of-use.”

The DriveStation SATA USB 2.0 Hard Drive is compatible with Windows and Macintosh and easily connects to any device with an available USB 2.0 or 1.1 port on any desktop, notebook or one of Buffalo’s own LinkStation or TeraStation NAS (Network Attached Storage) devices. This plug-n-play solution includes Auto Setup technology, which allows for instant installation without the need to install drivers. It is also pre-formatted for immediate use.

The DriveStation’s Auto On/Off feature automatically powers the product on or off with the PC, and the Power Saving Shutdown Scheduling feature allows for energy preservation. The silent, fanless DriveStation contains a unique Heat Sink chassis for cooling. An optional fan can be added for additional cooling and extending product life in extreme environments or when stacking to save desk space. The DriveStation also comes with Memeo AutoBackup software for Windows.

Backed by a limited one-year warranty and toll-free 24/7 technical support, the product is immediately available at estimated street prices of $159 for the 160 GB (HD-HC160U2); $199 for the 250 GB (HD-HC250U2); $249 for the 300 GB (HD-HC300U2); $349 for the 400 GB (HD-HC400U2) and $449 for the 500 GB (HD-HC500U2).

The DriveStation SATA USB 2.0 Hard Drive is available via retail outlets, resellers and Buffalo’s website.
