Satyam Computer Services Ltd. and Microsoft Corp. have launched an industry enterprise readiness initiative, called EDGE, which aims at training and certifying Satyam’s engineering workforce on Microsoft technologies. Managed by Satyam’s Microsoft Global Alliance and the Satyam Learning Center, EDGE will train up to 3,000 Microsoft Certified Professionals each year.

Satyam said the initiative would allow it to ensure execution excellence on the Microsoft .NET technology for enterprise solutions, while providing customers with improved IT optimization making the enterprise more efficient, agile and competitive.

The company said it is scaling its .NET readiness efforts in a company-wide campaign to cater to the increased number of customers investing in Extensible Markup Language (XML) and Web services-based .NET service-oriented architecture (SOA) as the platform for their enterprise application solutions.

The EDGE program will help Satyam’s global workforce, including campus recruits, designers and architects, to access instructor-led training on Microsoft Official Curriculum courseware at the application and infrastructure level. It will also be supported by key Microsoft eLearning Library assets, MSDN Universal and other dedicated certification assets. The EDGE program will also merge with other Satyam and Microsoft alliance assets, such as Microsoft’s architectural patterns and practices program and Adaptive Solutions Centers to create a unified approach to delivering productivity benefits to its global enterprise customers.

Ram Mynampati, president of Satyam, said, “Satyam has successfully pioneered ideas, technologies and strategies with the goal of expanding the business value for our customers worldwide, and providing high quality and agility in delivery and customer relationships. EDGE will be one such key initiative, which will elevate and strengthen our quality and productivity on Microsoft technologies. It will play a key role in enhancing the business value we deliver to our customers. We are glad that we could work closely with Microsoft on this alliance and look forward to working toward creating a global level of training and readiness on the platform and thus create the value ‘edge’ for our customers.”

Eric Rudder, senior vice president of technical strategy at Microsoft, said, “Satyam’s true potential as an enterprise solutions integrator can be unleashed with a highly productive .NET-trained and -certified workforce. To have Satyam’s rapidly expanding engineering workforce undergo a dedicated, world-class Microsoft Learning and certification program will enhance its rapid growth as a leading global Microsoft partner that realizes customer potential on our platform. Microsoft is excited to co-design and support this program. Together, we will be able to deliver immense benefits to our shared customers worldwide.”
