Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots has finally been confirmed for release on the Sony PlayStation 3 by Konami. The game will release in North America, Europe, Japan and other parts of Asia on June 12, 2008.

Yesterday, Sony had announced a PS3 bundle which contains a copy of the MGS4: Guns of the Patriots title.

This much-awaited game from Konami’s popular Metal Gear franchise will be released for the first time as a simultaneous release through the world!

The Metal Gear series celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2007. The entire series was created to carry an anti-war and anti-nuclear theme to society.

Metal Gear Solid 4 happens to be the fourth and final chapter from the Metal Gear series. So you can expect all major characters that were seen in previous games. You can also expect unsolved mysteries to be solved in this game.

Metal Gear Solid 4 was awarded a prize for excellence in the entertainment category at the 11th Japan Media Arts Festival.

It is known that in Japan, Konami will be launching Metal Gear Solid 4 in three different packages:

Standard version which includes Metal Gear Online Starter Pack

Special Edition including a Blu-ray Disc of bonus features in addition to all features included in the Standard version

Premium Pack which includes a PlayStation 3 console besides the Special Edition contents
