A Smile Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) is doing its bit of good by donating video consoles to the Children’s Hospital of New Orleans, reported the NY Post. The contributions were made on the NBA All-Star weekend.

The games will chiefly be used in the ‘teen room’. Speaking about this, Jeff Helminger, a recreational therapist for the hospital, stated, “Well, when you meet a kind in the room and they are sad and depressed, then when you get the child to come down to the teen room, the environment changes. As music and videos games are on in the background the kids will start to socialize and start to enjoy the environment. We here at the hospital start to see how they act if they where out side in a normal environment.”

A PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3 and the PlayStation Portable consoles along 2 HDTVs have been donated by Sony to the Children’s Hospital of New Orleans. Sony has further extended its gesture of kindness by also offering rolling storage systems that would enable the hospital staff to move the consoles all over the hospital.

Well, what can we say, this surely shows the brighter side of video games that many people fail to notice. Way to go Sony!
