Nintendo Woo to DS Game Downloads Coming Soon

Now Nintendo Wii owners will soon be able to download full games on to Nintendo DS handheld consoles. This bit of interesting news was revealed by Nintendo of America’s President and Chief Operating Officer Reggie Fils-Aime in a recent interview with the New York Times.

“To aggressively drive DS business we need to provide other forms of entertainment to excite the consumer.” Fils-Aime was quoted as saying, adding that future Ds devices will be more tightly integrated with the Wii console.

It is known that complete games as well as demos for the Nintendo DS will be able to be downloaded on to the Wii using the console’s broadband connection, which can then be transferred wirelessly to the DS handheld gaming console.

It was also revealed that new puzzles for the upcoming ‘Professor Layton’ puzzle game on the DS can be wirelessly downloaded on the DS using Wii as the medium. This game will be released in February 2007 in the US.

Further, Nintendo also has plans for added functionality, like Japan’s Everybody’s Nintendo Channel and the upcoming MLB on DS cooperative.

Just like us, you too must be wondering if we will be able to download Super Mario 45 DS and other classic DS games using the Wii! But, none of this will be known until Nintendo themselves release some more information on this.
