Now that India is out of the 2007 Cricket World Cup, the future of the Yuvraj Singh International Cricket 2007 game for Xbox 360 seems bleak. Microsoft had initially planned to take advantage of the World Cup fever to promote the game in India which sort of backfired with the Indian cricket team’s early exit.

A few days ago, we had covered the event which Microsoft had hosted at the Gateway of India in Mumbai to announce the launch date of the game. Usually Microsoft launches such products with a big fanfare. However, the dismal performance of the Indian cricket team has disappointed many cricket fans in India and that could be the reason why Microsoft is now launching the game very, very quietly.

When we contacted Microsoft’s PR in India, they stated that cricket is just a game and losing is a part of it. But one does wonder, what will happen to the game as even Yuvraj Singh’s place in the team is in doubt and cricket fans in India have not taken lightly to the country’s embarrassing first-round exit from the 2007 World Cup.

Of course, the other regional versions of the game, Brian Lara International Cricket 2007 for UK and Ricky Ponting International Cricket 2007 for Australia and New Zealand will receive standing ovation by the cricket fans in countries that they are launched. The Brian Lara version has already been shipped in the UK by Codemasters.

It is a big possibility that the sales performance of Yuvraj Singh International Cricket 2007 for Xbox 360 could compliment Indian cricket team’s display in the West Indies. The game is the first Xbox 360 title to be developed especially for India.

The Yuvraj Singh International Cricket 2007 game is releasing on March 27, 2007 in India.
