Metal Gear Online Beta Test to begin in August reveals Konami

The Metal Gear Solid series of games has 20 years to its credit as the franchise recently celebrated its 20th anniversary. From the looks of it, you can expect loads of MGS goodies coming your way soon.

At the recent 20th Anniversary party hosted by the creator of the Metal Gear Solid series, Hideo Kojima a few details about the upcoming Metal Gear Online game were disclosed to those who were lucky enough to be present.

Also announced at the MGS celebration was the arrival of the Metal Gear Solid 20th Anniversary Edition Box Set which is set to release in a few days time.

Now coming back to Metal Gear Online; well this is an exclusive PS3 game which will see 16 players fight it out online. The game also uses a new control scheme.

Metal Gear Online also features a number of characters and environments from the single player game. The theme for this game is “hide and seek”.

Yes, this theme fits perfectly, for those present at the event were treated to a demo of the Metal Gear Solid gameplay. The gameplay which had two teams playing against each other showed that players are able t9o use a body heat mode to guess where their team mates are.

What’s more; players can also hack into the opposing team’s body heat system by scanning an enemy. But this feature works only if the enemy is nearby.

The Metal Gear Solid 20th Anniversary Edition box set includes everything that an MSG fan would ever need. It comprises games on DVDs like Metal Gear, Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, The Document of Metal Gear Solid 2, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops and Metal Gear SAGA.

The Metal Gear Solid 20th Anniversary Edition will be released tomorrow, July 26 in Japan.

Konami revealed that the beta testing for Metal Gear Online would begin on August 20 and will end on September 3, 2007. Around 3000 participants will be able to participate in the beta testing.
