Halo 2 on Windows Vista

On Thursday, Microsoft Games Studios announced that the highly-anticipated Halo 2 for the Windows Vista platform will be available across Europe on 8th June.

Halo 2 for Windows Vista was originally slated to be released on May 8th, which shifted to May 22nd and now it’s gone ahead to June. The new date for North America is May 31st, while the date for the European release has been set to June 8th, as mentioned before.

Microsoft has admitted that Halo 2 Vista has been delayed due to partial nudity arising because of a coding error.

“It has come to our attention that an unfortunate, obscure content error which includes partial nudity was included in our initial production of “Halo 2” for Windows Vista. As such, we have updated the initial game packaging at retailers with a label, so customers are aware before purchasing the game. Additionally, we’ve developed an online update which can be downloaded from www.halo2.com to remove the content,” read the statement from Microsoft.

The Vista version of Halo 2 has been the victim of reoccurring delays in the past due to problems with some of the new technologies being included in the updated, DX10 version of the console best-seller.

The sequel to Halo: Combat Evolved brings Master Chief to Windows Vista giving PC gamers the pleasure to play the critically acclaimed Halo phenomenon against others for the first time. Halo 2 for Windows Vista is a first person action shooter that takes place amidst the same science fiction universe as Halo, where humans have occupied several worlds thanks to the development of superluminal travel. Over 32 years before the beginning of Halo 2, the outer colony world of Harvest was destroyed by the Covenant – a collection of alien races. Since then, the humans and covenant have been locked into a bloody war. Just a little before the events of Halo 2, the Master Chief moves towards Earth after destroying a covenant fleet to warn of an approaching covenant attack on humanity’s home planet.

Halo 2 for Windows Vista not only features an expanded range of vehicles but also gameplay changes to its predecessor. For instance, as against the previous one, in Halo 2 for Windows Vista the health bar is no longer visible on-screen. Instead, health regenerates slowly, if the player is not taking a beating.

Furthermore, the game also packs in over fourteen human and alien weapons with players allowed to carry two weapons at a time, each weapon having advantages and disadvantages in different combat situations.

Halo 2 for Windows Vista will be available all over Europe for 59.99 EUR from 8th June onwards.Hope there’s not further delay beyond that.
